Grand Prix on Vip Android challenge with PopraviMK

For those that missed the news, we won the Grand Prix as the best mobile application on the Android challenge organized by Vip mobile operator in Macedonia.

PopraviMK is a public service for reporting urban problems. We build a Ruby on Rails web service and mobile application for Android platform using the Titanium framework.

People can use both applications to report problems they have found on public area and institutions can respond to their requests and solve the problems.

Will they do? That's the question we are trying to answer in this period of time. We are preparing a presentation for the municipalities and how we can involve them to play an active role into the system.

We were two members in the team working on the development of the both applications. I did the programming part and Dime Pashoski did a good job with the design.

Titanium framework for developing mobile applications was something new to me. It gave me the power and speed to develop an application in a short time with Javascript. But, it's still in a very active development state and its version for iPhone seems to be much more stable than the Android one. That means, the development process of the Android application wasn't very pleasant to me, although I would say that it's far more pleasant than writing it in Java. :)

I will write more technical posts about the Titanium framework in future.
